We will collect your personal information when you ask for an insurance quotation, contact us to make an enquiry (via telephone, email, the website or any other form of communication) or purchase a product or service from us.
We may receive information directly from you or someone you have authorised to act on your behalf (a representative), or from a third-party company whom you have submitted your details to for a quotation.
We may also collect electronic personal data when you visit our website, where we will collect your unique online electronic identifier, this is commonly known as an IP address.
Where we collect data directly from you, we are considered to be the controller of that data. Where we use third parties to process your data, these parties are known as processors of your personal data. Where there are other parties involved in underwriting or administering your insurance who may also process your data, all parties will be joint data controller of your personal data.
A “data controller” means the individual or organisation which, alone or jointly with others, determines the purpose and means of the processing of personal data.

We will also use your personal data to manage your account, perform statistical analysis on the data we collect, for financial planning and business forecasting purposes and to develop new and market existing products and services.
In some situations, we may request your consent to market our products and services to you or to share your data. Where we require consent, your rights and what you are consenting to will be clearly communicated to you. Where you provide consent, you can withdraw this consent at any time by contacting our office.
In purchasing our products and services you should understand that you are forming a contract with us. If you contact us for a quotation or request details on the services we offer, we consider ourselves as having a legitimate business interest to provide you with further information about our services

Any data we hold about you will remain with One Sure Insurance for a reasonable amount of time. For situations where no contract is entered in to; we will hold your data for a maximum of 3 years, and for any insurance contract that is entered in to; your data will be held on file for up to a maximum of 40 years. The retaining of data is necessary where required for contractual, legal or regulatory purposes of for our legitimate business interests for statistical analysis and product development and marketing purposes. All personal information will be held in the strictest of confidence and used only for the purpose for which we collect it.
We will endeavour to treat your personal information as private and confidential, however, in administering your insurance policy or in order to offer you an insurance contract, it may be necessary for us to pass your information to selected third parties.
In order to prevent or detect fraud we will check your details with various fraud prevention agencies and anti-fraud registers, who may record a search. Searches may also be made against other insurer databases which may affect the type of contract we are able to offer to you as a customer.
We may conduct a search with a credit reference agency in order to offer you differing payment options and a copy of this search will be left on your credit file but will not affect your credit score. If you have a debt with us, we may search third party platforms in order to further identify you.
From time to time we may use social media, general website searches and more formal searches with government partners as a way of further verifying your identity.
If required, and with your permission, we will complete DVLA checks to verify your driving licence information to ensure we hold the correct information in regards to your driving record. In order to do this, we will request your driving licence number and your national insurance number.
In order to offer you a quotation, or to administer your insurance policy, we will use third party processors in order to do this and as such this processing is conducted under contract and we ensure that appropriate security is provided. From time to time we may need to share your information using third parties located in countries outside of the EU and if this happens we will take all necessary steps to ensure that it is adequately protected. This includes ensuring there is an agreement in place with the third parties which provide the same level of protection as required by the data protection regulations in the UK and EU.
If you make a complaint about the services One Sure Insurance have provided, One Sure Insurance may be obliged to forward details about your complaint, including your personal information, to the relevant ombudsman.
In the unfortunate event that you have to make an insurance claim then we will need to disclose information with any other party involved in that insurance claim. This may include third parties involved with the claim, another insurer, solicitor or representative, medical teams, the policy and any other investigators.
Insurers pass information to the Insurance Claims Underwriting and Exchange Register, run by the Insurance Database Services (IDS) and the Motor Insurance Anti-Fraud and Theft Register, run by the Association of British Insurers (ABI). This helps insurers check information and prevent fraudulent insurance claims. When One Sure Insurance deal with your request for insurance, we may search these registers.
If applicable your policy details will be added to the Motor Insurance Database, run by the Motor Insurer’s Information Centre (MIIC) and your data is held here for the purpose of allowing the police to verify with the MID who is insured to be driving the vehicle.
We may need to share your data with relevant authorities and law enforcement agencies where we are legally obliged to do so.
